To better practise self care, we need to start with the acknowledgement that self care takes practice and a certain degree of compassion. The problem is, these are qualities we do not readily extend to our self. As a result we lack discipline and self-control when we need it most.
Better self care, like everything else, starts by creating self care routines that you can implement every day, when the pressure is not on:
- Eat well
- Eat right
- Sleep well
- Breathe right
- Let your mind wander
- Find ways to have fun
- Unplug and recharge from time to time
- Find ways to exercise (even if it's just a brief walk)
No one should be more responsible for yourself than you.
